The 17-4 spring compensator automatically compensates wire tension changes in the head-span (soft cross-span) suspension structures of electrified railway contact systems, keeping suspension tension constant as temperature varies. Eight models cover S and L structural types, each in four mounting configurations: 17-4SA~SD and 17-4LA~LD.
Manufactured to TB/T 2075.17-2024, Fittings for overhead contact system of electrification railway — Part 17: Head-span connection fittings, the compensator combines a constant-force spring tension unit, an adjusting mechanism and connecting fittings. It mounts at the anchor or suspension point of the head-span and absorbs wire elongation and contraction without any counterweight stack or compensation rope.
The sealed spring unit is corrosion-protected and inspection-friendly, giving long maintenance-free service in small installation envelopes — well suited to station yards and retrofit works where counterweight travel is unavailable. A/B/C/D mounting types match different head-span interface directions per the design drawings.
Henan Chuangwit Railway Equipment Co., Ltd. supplies the 17-4 series under CRCC railway product certification, with model selection against your head-span design on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the 17-4 spring compensator installed?
At the anchor or suspension points of head-span (soft cross-span) structures in stations and yards, where it automatically compensates wire tension as temperature changes.
Why choose a spring compensator over a counterweight system?
It needs no counterweight travel or compensation rope. The sealed constant-force spring unit fits tight stations and retrofit sites, with long maintenance-free service.
Which models are available?
Eight models: 17-4SA to SD (S structural type) and 17-4LA to LD (L structural type), covering four mounting configurations A to D for different head-span interfaces.
