What does a crossover (wire crossing) do and which types exist?

Crossovers guide the pantograph between contact wires at turnouts; crossed and non-crossed types

Short answer: A crossover (wire crossing assembly) is installed where contact wires of two tracks cross at turnouts; it guides the pantograph smoothly from one wire to the other without snagging. Types: crossed crossovers (limiting tube plus positioning clamps, common on conventional lines) and non-crossed designs (high-speed mainlines, avoiding a hard point at the crossing).

Selection and maintenance

Turnout number and line speed drive the choice; the crossover zone is a pantograph-failure hotspot - limiting-tube clearance, crossing-point offset and clamp wear are inspection priorities. Chuangwit supplies complete crossover component sets (limiting tubes, positioning clamps, bonding connections), customisable by turnout drawing number.
