How to choose between lattice steel masts, H-section steel masts and concrete poles?
Select by line speed, load capacity and layout. Lattice steel masts carry the largest loads — line masts cover G150/13 to G750/20 and straight-leg bridge masts cover Gq80/9 to Gq200/12.5, 25 models in total, for mainlines, stations, bridges and head-spans. H-section steel masts to GB/T 25020.1-2025 use hot-rolled H-section solid webs, section height 240 to 300mm and mast height 7.5 to 11m (common model GH270X), strong, compact and quick to erect — the mainstream for high-speed railway sections and stations. Prestressed concrete poles cost less and insulate well, common as supports on conventional-speed railways.
How to select mast capacity by working bending moment?
Combine the suspension horizontal force with wind load into the working bending moment and match it to the mast capacity. Lattice line-mast capacity is given by the model number, e.g. G350/15 for its capacity and height class, with the series covering G150/13 to G750/20; H-section masts and ring-shaped equal-diameter concrete poles are selected by design capacity and height. All follow the GB/T 25020 series and TB/T 2286 — selection means matching the required capacity and height to the model.
When are anchor masts and guyed masts used?
Use the guyed steel anchor mast where tension length joints and tensioning points need additional guy fixing. In Gm350-250/15 the 350 and 250 denote the two-direction mast capacities of 350kN·m and 250kN·m, and 15 the height of 15m, in Q235B or Q345 steel with hot-dip galvanizing, to the GB/T 25020 series. Ordinary intermediate masts are self-balancing and need no guys.
How to choose emergency and temporary masts?
For accident repair and temporary support choose the aluminium alloy emergency repair mast in 6063A aluminium profile — light, corrosion-resistant, easy to transport and erect quickly. TRP-8 has a total height of 8m in two bolted sections; the LHSQT-I aluminium mast is 8m high, 90kg self-weight, 22kN·m capacity; LQXT-8/9-30 is 8 or 9m high, about 80kg, 30kN·m capacity. Select by the height and load the repair requires.
